Peak Oil | 20" x 40"

CA$665.00
SOLD

Acrylic and plaster on gallery wrapped canvas 20” x 40” x 1.5”

In 2020, the pandemic drove a 9% dip in oil demand that many believe will never be recovered. Whether we have truly reached peak oil is still to be determined. Just when it’s believed that we may be nearing the peak of what companies can profitably extract from the earth, new technologies, like hydraulic fracking, blows those unit economics out the water and opens up whole new fields of opportunity, literally.

As a result, it is up to demand side changes, like societal behaviours and policy measures to create the seismic shifts in market conditions needed to drive the true decline of oil production.

Peak Oil is inspired by the peaks of Perito Moreno glacier, adapted to mimic the peaks of global oil production graphs.

Frame not included. Painting wraps around all edges. Signed and shipped ready to hang.
